The legislation map. What each jurisdiction has for a machine that keeps changing after it is approved, rated against our three questions, with the date every cell was last checked.

How every jurisdiction is rated

Three questions, one scale

After the update
Is a changed machine re-checked before it moves again?
High means a binding rule ties re-assessment to a software or model change. None means nothing found that touches the moment after the update.
Incident record
Does any public record name the robot and the software version?
High means a public record with a robot category. No jurisdiction yet scores for having the version field as well; that pair is the gap.
Robots building robots
Does any threshold trigger an obligation?
High means factory autonomy is graded on a published scale. Nowhere does reaching a grade oblige anyone to do anything.

How to read this

Each rating is the strongest instrument we found for that question in that place, not an average. A high rating for the incident record means a public record with a robot category exists; it does not mean the record carries the software version. We have not found one anywhere that does both.

"Read at source" means we read the legal or official text ourselves. "Reported" means we have it from a reliable secondary account and have not yet read the original.

Corrections and additions

If a rating is wrong, or a country has something we have missed, tell us with a link to the original text. Every change is logged with the date, the source and who made it, and the cell's last-checked date moves.
